FOR EQUAL OPPORTUNITY IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY

The Female Producer Collective also made a guest appearance. The nationwide project supports female producers through workshops and mentoring and strengthens exchange, networking and visibility in the community.

“Equal opportunity in the music industry is a major issue that the Foundation is passionate about,” asserted founder Elisabeth Furtwängler, “and we won’t stop until the full extent of diversity in our society is reflected in the creativity of the music industry. There are still far too few songs written, performed, and produced by women. Especially in production, the percentage is far too low. This is enormously important, because as producers, we have an eye for the complete artwork, for the whole package, not only for what’s inside, but also for the wrapping paper around it.”

Elisabeth Furtwängler initiated the study, “Gender in Music – Charts, Works and Festival Stages”, published in September 2022. It was conducted in cooperation with GEMA and Music S Women* and investigated gender equality in the charts, in GEMA work registrations, and on festival stages.
