Panel discussion on gender representation in music videos

The MaLisa Foundation partnered with the International Central Institute for Youth and Educational Television (IZI) to conduct the largest research study worldwide into the representation of women and men in music videos.

An extensive text and image analysis of the top 100 music videos in Germany and the USA examined the following questions: How are women staged in music videos? And what about men? Which roles, which gender image is communicated? What type of language is used? In addition, the study investigated how these images affect young people who regularly consume music videos.

On August 17th 2017 the study was the focus of a discussion forum during the c/o pop convention in Cologne.
