Virtually every topic that is addressed by philanthropy has a gender dimension, says Karin Heisecke. However, it appears that this is not yet acknowledged by the German philanthropic sector. In an interview with Stiftung & Sponsoring, the director of the MaLisa Foundation discusses what can be done to change that.

To effectively address any issue in the context of societal dynamics and people’s living conditions,  the gender dimension needs to be considered. However, it appears that this is not yet acknowledged by the German philanthropic sector. For instance, for foundations that address social issues, the prevention of violence against women and the support for those affected by this violence, would appear to be an obvious field of activity. However, until now, there are only very few foundations that have been active on the issue. More broadly speaking, achieving gender equality is still not recognised as a priority in many areas of society. In an interview with Stiftung & Sponsoring, Karin Heisecke, head of the MaLisa Foundation, discusses what can be done to change that.
